Job Title: Fellow Engineer - Electrical Design Authority Engineer
Duration: Full-Time
Location: Aiken, SC
Summary:
HukariAscendent is seeking a Fellow Engineer to serve as an Electrical Design Authority Engineer providing engineering staff augmentation support to Tritium Projects and Facilities. This senior-level position requires an industry-recognized expert with extensive nuclear industry experience who can resolve complex technical problems, lead task teams, and provide authoritative guidance on electrical design and analysis. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in electrical design authority engineering with a proven track record of advancing technical knowledge in their field.
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Ph.D. and approximately 10 years of experience, OR
- Master of Science degree and 12 years of experience, OR
- Bachelor of Science degree and approximately 15 years of experience
- 15-20 years of design authority experience in the nuclear industry required
- Recognized as an internal expert in area of expertise
- Proven ability to solve complex problems in field of specialization
- Demonstrated contributions to advancing knowledge through internal/external publications and professional society presentations
Security Clearance:
- DOE "Q" security clearance required
- Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred
Technical Skills & Responsibilities:
Design Authority & Engineering Support:
- Provide Electrical Design Authority engineering staff augmentation support to Tritium Projects and Facilities
- Perform engineering analysis for Operations, Maintenance, Project, Startup, and construction support
- Conduct field system walk downs and design reviews
- Develop and generate design input and output documents including:
- System Design Descriptions and requirements documents
- Single Line Drawings and Electrical Equipment Lists
- Control System Design, Control Schematics, and Connection Diagrams
- Electrical Equipment Specifications and Bulk Material Specifications
- Circuit/Raceway/Wiring/Connection Design
- Grounding, Heat Tracing, and Fire Detection systems
- Short Circuit Calculations and Arc Flash Incident Energy Analysis
- Load Flow Analysis and Electrical System Sizing Calculations
Technical Leadership & Problem Solving:
- Apply technical experience in field of specialization to resolve complex problems
- Incorporate advanced technical practices and complicated technical requirements into problem solving and program planning
- Lead task teams for developing solutions to complex problems
- Prepare comprehensive plans including schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements for major technical tasks
- Develop schedules, monitor progress and expenditures, and review quality of work performed
- Include research, development, testing, and quality assurance requirements in planning
Communication & Documentation:
- Communicate results and objectives verbally and in written form to customers, colleagues, managers, and oversight groups
- Prepare reports for external publication
- Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise
- Identify and accomplish technical programs with minimal guidance
Required Technical Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of NEC, IES, NFPA, IEEE, ETAP, and OSHA requirements
- Experience using software (preferably ETAP) to generate electrical system calculations
- Ability to perform field walk downs of systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Savannah River Site (SRS) Electrical Design Authority Engineering experience
- Experience designing Lithium-Ion Battery Systems as redundant power sources
- Previously held or currently hold DOE Q-clearance
Work Schedule: Up to a 40-hour work week utilizing various schedules including 5/8s (8 hours/day, five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day, four days per week), or 9/80s (9 hours/day, alternating weeks). Work week excludes company holidays. Each workday includes a 30-minute lunch. Overtime may be required at times to meet deliverables.
Travel Requirements: Travel is not normally required; however, occasional travel may be requested for in-person discussions with off-site vendors, witnessing engineering hold-points during fabrication, factory acceptance testing, or other Subject Matter Expert services as requested. Estimated travel budget: $3,000/year. All travel must be pre-approved by procurement via fully funded requisition.
