Hughes Electrical Contractors
Hillsboro, OR Full Time
POSTED ON 7/29/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/27/2026

Full Job Description

Hughes Electrical Contractors is looking for an Electrical Project Manager to step into a key leadership role to help drive our project delivery and operational success. This is a high-impact position for a proven electrical construction professional who can bridge the gap between field operations and client expectations, keep scope, schedule, and budget firmly on track, and drive work forward with urgency and sound judgment. You will help shape projects from pursuit through closeout, bringing the electrical fluency, steady leadership, and practical problem-solving it takes to keep multiple jobs moving without letting quality, safety, or relationships slip.

In this role, details and clean handoffs are everything. Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will collaborate closely with our estimating, design, purchasing, and field teams to proactively plan work, resolve issues, and uphold our standards from office to job site. This is a full-time, in-person role based in Hillsboro, Oregon, with a salary range of $100,000 to $160,000 per year and weekly pay.

About Us

Since 1979, Hughes Electrical Contractors has built a reputation across Oregon and Southwest Washington for doing solid work and standing behind it. We combine the personal connection and accountability of a close-knit contractor with the scale and discipline required to deliver complex electrical solutions. People build their careers here because quality is noticed, fairness is a given, and loyalty runs both ways. In turn, customers choose us because they want safe, timely project execution from a team that values integrity, practical problem-solving, and relationships that last long after the job is complete.

The Work You Will Lead

You will be trusted to keep projects moving from the first customer conversation through final closeout, with a clear eye on scope, schedule, cost, safety, quality, and the relationships behind the work. You will:

· Project Leadership and Execution ·

  • Lead the day-to-day rhythm of multiple projects, set priorities, adapt when conditions change, and keep the work moving with a proactive, professional approach.
  • Keep project information clean and usable, from customer, site, permitting, safety, logistics, and closeout details to job-costs, billing values, production planning, and forecasting, so the team has the financial visibility needed to make disciplined decisions.

· Bids, Project Starts, and Contracts ·

  • Help shape smart bids and strong project starts by reviewing bid documents, estimates, proposals, and formal responses for scope, cost, requirements, deliverables, and accuracy.
  • Support bid selection, strategy, negotiation, and professional presentations with company leadership, the Construction Manager, design, estimating, and permitting resources.
  • Manage contract review for applicable scopes and project values, and partner with Purchasing to identify qualified suppliers and subcontractors.

· Communication, Coordination, and Field Support ·

  • Drive communication across the job by coordinating meetings, timelines, inspections, workflow, responsibilities, and project correspondence.
  • Work with field, design, estimating, and project teams to spot design issues, discrepancies, and conflicts before they become bigger problems.
  • Support safe, high-quality field execution through pre-task plans, toolbox talks, daily logs, safety documentation, compliance follow-ups, production planning, forecasting, issue resolution, and project standards.
  • Help enforce the company processes, policies, and procedures that keep the work consistent.

· Customer Relationships and Team Development ·

  • Build durable customer relationships by following up on performance, upcoming work, satisfaction, and new project opportunities.
  • Work with department and project managers to grow construction, service, and small-project opportunities while helping improve the Construction Department and strengthen Hughes Electrical’s customer base.
  • Step in for the Construction Manager when needed, maintain professionalism and confidentiality with employees and customers, and help identify, mentor, train, and develop additional resources.

Your Qualifications

This is a role for someone who already understands the pace, pressure, and details of construction project management and can step in with real electrical and construction fluency. A few things are essential for this position, and a few others will help you stand out.

· Required ·

  • At least five years of construction project management experience.
  • A strong working knowledge of electrical terminology, construction documents, code awareness, and how to read, interpret, and mark up blueprints.
  • Confidence working in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Clear oral and written communication with customers, field teams, internal teams, and leadership.
  • The ability to coordinate task assignments, manage competing priorities, and keep people aligned when project conditions change.

· Preferred, Not Required ·

  • Ten years of electrical or construction experience.
  • A college degree or previous high-level Foreman or General Foreman experience.
  • Experience with EBM, Accubid, or similar trade-specific estimating software.

How You Show Up

At Hughes Electrical, how you show up matters as much as what you know. The strongest project leaders bring steady judgment, clear follow-through, respect for people, and pride in the details, especially when the work gets busy. In practice, that means you:

  • Take pride in being accurate, prepared, and accountable.
  • Manage competing priorities without losing momentum.
  • Stay flexible when schedules, scopes, or field conditions change.
  • Bring a positive, even-keeled presence to customers, crews, and internal teams.
  • Work well with others and understand that strong project delivery depends on collaboration.
  • Stay composed under pressure and keep moving toward the next right step.

Work Environment and Schedule

This role works in both office and active jobsite settings, with varied conditions and low-to-medium noise. Daily work may include extended sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending, with occasional lifting up to 30 pounds. Site visits may be needed, including after normal working hours when required. This position uses a monitored, employer-owned vehicle. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.

The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with time split between the office and jobsites as needed. Some overtime may be required.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time position with a pay range of $100,000 to $160,000 per year, paid weekly. Hughes Electrical offers a strong benefits package that includes a company vehicle, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, an employee assistance program, paid holidays, a generous PTO model, and a pension.
