POSITION: PROJECT ACCOUNTANT
We are looking for a Project Accountant to manage the financial operations of fabrication projects, ensuring accurate job cost tracking, timely billing, and compliance with internal controls and construction accounting standards. This role partners closely with project managers, fabrication leadership, and operations to provide clear financial visibility from shop drawings through final installation.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Job Cost & Project Accounting
- Set up and maintain fabrication projects in the accounting system
- Track and analyze job costs, including labor, materials, and overhead
- Support project management with updating work schedules in the ERP system
- Billing & Revenue Recognition
- Prepare and review progress billings
- Support percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure billing aligns with project status
- Track retainage, unbilled revenue, and collections related to fabrication projects
- General Accounting
- Assist with month-end and year-end close
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, and credit card activity
- Manage accounts payable and vendor payments
- Support tax preparation and provide requested financial documentation
- Collaboration & Reporting
- Provide ERP expertise to the project teams
- Partner with project teams and management to provide financial insight
- Support forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow planning
WHO YOU ARE
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Clear communicator with both financial an non-financial stakeholders
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3-5 years of construction or manufacturing accounting experience
- Strong understanding of job cost accounting and WIP
- Advanced Excel skills
- Preferred
- ERP implementation experience, or an interested in technical problem-solving
- Experience working with architectural or specialty fabrication projects
- Knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting
- Experience coordinating between shop fabrication and field operations
