Construction Cost Estimator

Position Summary:

We are seeking an Advanced Construction Cost Estimator to join our growing design-build remodeling company. This role is critical in developing accurate, timely, and value-based project proposals for residential remodeling projects including kitchens, bathrooms, additions, basements, outdoor spaces, full-home renovations and light commercial build-outs. The Estimator will work closely with leadership, design staff, and field operations to ensure estimates reflect true project scope, profitability goals, and exceptional client value.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, measurements, and scope breakdowns for labor, material, and subcontractor costs.
• Translate architectural drawings, design specifications, and site conditions into accurate cost structures.
• Maintain and refine cost databases for labor rates, material pricing, and subcontractor quotes.
• Build comprehensive, value-based proposals.
• Collaborate with the design team to align budgets with design intent and client goals.
• Ensure estimates support company profitability goals, markups, and overhead recovery.
• Provide cost comparisons and value-engineering options when needed.
• Assist leadership in reviewing project budgets against actual costs for continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with field operations to confirm constructability and realistic labor production rates.
• Work with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive, reliable pricing.
• Support sales team during client presentations, explaining estimate rationale when needed.
• Use Buildertrend for estimate creation, proposals, and job costing.
• Develop and refine estimating templates, checklists, and SOPs for efficiency and accuracy.
• Help streamline preconstruction workflow from lead qualification through signed contract.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years estimating in residential remodeling, construction, or a design-build firm.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, residential codes, and current building materials.
• Deep understanding of labor productivity rates, subcontractor trades, and residential construction sequencing.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, excellent written and verbal communication, ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Buildertrend preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Base Salary: $55,000 – $75,000
• Paid Time Off: 6 paid holidays 5 paid vacation days.

Base Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
