For our Adjunct Faculty, who are currently employed for nine (fall/spring) semesters or more and their immediate family (spouse and legal dependents) may be granted 100% tuition waiver for any credit course, as well as selected continuing education courses offered by the College. Adjunct faculty who are currently employed for four to eight semesters may be granted 50% tuition reduction.

About The School

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences Meta Major encompasses a number of disciplines, including Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Human Services/Pre-Social Work, Addictions Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, History, and Education (Special Education, Infant/Toddler, Early Childhood, and Elementary/Secondary). Among the options of study encompassed by this Meta Major are Associate of Applied Science (AAS), Associate of Arts (AA), and Associate of Science (AS) programs designed to prepare students for transfer to four-year institutions and/or for entry-level careers. We also offer professional development certificates and programs in preparation for immediate employment upon graduation as well as general education courses required for all degree programs.

Our mission is to offer courses and degree-granting programs centered on a critical and analytical inquiry of human behavior and institutional structures from theoretical, historical, empirical, and multicultural perspectives. Academic exploration of Humanities and Social Sciences on local and global scales, aims to promote self-discovery and empowerment through the development of critical thinking and problem–solving skills for future academic and vocational careers.

Summary Of Duties

Hudson County Community College Criminal Justice Program is seeking qualified and motivated Adjunct Faculty members to teach Criminal Justice and or Homeland Security courses. We are looking for dynamic educators who are passionate about student success and committed to excellence in teaching.

  • Ability to teach introductory and advanced Criminal Justice and/or Homeland Security courses.
  • Ability to teach in-person, online, and remote course formats.
  • Availability to teach morning, afternoon, and evening classes at our Jersey City and Union City, New Jersey campus locations.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Homeland Security, Juris Doctor (J.D.), or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications And Skills

  • Two years of teaching experience.
  • Online Teaching Experience.
  • Demonstrated use of both traditional and non-traditional teaching methods.
  • Strong understanding of educational technology and current trends in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, and Public Safety.
  • Ability to effectively engage and connect with a diverse population of learners.
  • Commitment to developing students’ critical thinking, communication, and oral presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Highly motivated, student-centered, flexible, and people oriented.
  • Proven ability to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment that promotes student success.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for teaching, a commitment to academic excellence, and the ability to inspire and mentor students pursuing careers in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, and related fields.
