Position Summary
Leads and directs plant packaging manufacturing and packaged products & warehouse activities to meet customers' requirements and support HEM business strategies, operating initiatives, and financial objectives. Primary objectives are twofold: 1) Ensure that all products and processes meet or exceed all internal and external customer expectations and 2) Manage packaging, packaged products shipping, inventory, raw material planning, warehousing, and department 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Supervision
  • Lead a team of 20 hourly Packaging Operators and Multi‑craft Operators, plus a salaried Packaging Coordinator.
  • Ensure effective onboarding, training, and ongoing development with a focus on safety, forklift operation, and accurate production data recording.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, motivation, and continuous improvement aligned with Huber's vision and values.
  • Operations & Scheduling
  • Develop and execute daily and monthly packaging schedules in collaboration with Production Management and leadership.
  • Monitor packaging models and CCR availability reports (Power BI) to optimize resource allocation.
  • Serve as backup to the Production Manager when needed.
  • Materials & Inventory Management
  • Requisition and order raw materials for packaging and shipping at Marble Hill.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts, support Oracle month‑end closing, and ensure batch true‑up accuracy.
  • Validate warehouse inventory counts, resolve discrepancies, and maintain offsite warehouse accuracy.
  • Maintenance & Technical Coordination
  • Coordinate mechanical and electrical needs with the maintenance department beyond packaging staff capabilities.
  • Generate and assign preventive maintenance (PMs) for packaging equipment.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are properly documented in Oracle.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Champion 5S and housekeeping initiatives across Packaging, Warehousing, and Shipping.
  • Investigate incidents and near‑hits, ensuring corrective actions are completed.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Strategy
  • Partner with engineering, plant personnel, and product management to drive process improvements.
  • Act as a key communications interface with customer service, marketing, and other HEM areas to meet customer requirements.
  • Support trial product transfers to full‑scale production.
  • Contribute to HEM's annual operating plan and budget by setting and managing short‑ and long‑term objectives.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge Or Required Skills

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related engineering field, chemical, or minerals processing.
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory / leadership experience in a production environment preferred.
  • Must have complete knowledge of production process, production capabilities and thorough knowledge of equipment.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of limestone processing equipment, such as classifiers, baggers, roller mills, ball mills, screening systems, surface treating systems, pneumatic blowers, conveyors, elevators, and electronic programmable controllers, and computer operation.
  • Demonstrates ability to organize time and priorities to effectively handle multiple functions to maintain production and assure that equipment is operating efficiently.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage different and often conflicting objectives, projects, or activities on time.
  • Writes clear, concise memos, letters, and instructions which others can understand; verbally transmits ideas, instructions, and information so they are clearly understood by others in formal or informal face-to-face situations.
  • Requisitions the purchase of materials/supplies, equipment requests, and repairs within specified limit for daily packaging operations.
  • Recommends accepting/declining business based upon plant/production area capability.
  • Maintains optimum inventory levels for raw materials, processed materials, and related quality and production supplies.
  • Interviews, and recommends hires and makes performance decisions (appraisals and discipline) for front line employees.
  • Ensures that all plant activities are conducted in compliance with MSHA rules and regulations.
  • Participates in pre-shift safety meetings for responsible areas.
