Hours: Full Time

Hourly Wage: $13.20 - 15.61/hr.  Depending On Experience

Job Summary:

 

The Office Aide performs a variety of duties to assist the secretary.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Excellent grammar and writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Publisher, and Excel and ability to learn new computer programs pertaining to student records and budgeting 
  • Positive public relations skills
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties listed below

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Interact with students, parents, staff, and others in a positive encouraging manner.
  2. Assist administrator, student support manager, and office manager in addressing student office referrals (discipline, medical, etc.).
  3. Assist with parent and patron concerns.
  4. Assist with student attendance records and other record keeping as assigned.
  5. Operate a variety of office equipment.  
  6. Complete clerical duties, including typing, filing, and distributing of correspondence, reports, memorandums, announcements, newsletters, agendas, etc.
  7. Cover recess duties and/or classroom coverage, as needed.
  8. Assist with development and publication of flyers, newsletters, and correspondence with patrons, parents, and staff.
  9. Schedule appointments, meetings, and conferences as appropriate.
  10. Record meeting minutes as assigned by administrators.
  11. Place and answer telephone calls as needed. Forward calls and to appropriate persons and/or take and deliver accurate messages.
  12. Handle and distribute incoming and outgoing mail daily.
  13. Know and follow district policy and chain of command.
  14. Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.
  15. Perform such school-related duties as assigned by administrators.

  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively on the telephone and in person.
  • Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and review and prepare documents and file them in a prescribed order, and organize documents and materials.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity which permits the employee to operate a personal computer and other office equipment. 
  • May be required to block or redirect students.
  • Must be able to effectively supervise and support staff when consequences are implemented including supervising physical restraint and seclusion if necessary for safety.
  • Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.

 

Salary : $13 - $16
