The Production Coordinator's job involves overseeing other employees and ensuring that operations remain effective and smooth. Here are the job duties that a Production Coordinator can have:

One contrast between a Group Leader and a Production Coordinator is the level of authority. The Group Leader often oversees four work centers versus the off-shift Production Coordinator is directing the entire plant during the shift. The Production Coordinator residing at a higher level will direct all operations and employees, including Group Leaders/Team Leaders in production, as well as delegate tasks across departments and to members of any team.
The off-shift Production Coordinator will direct the escalation call to the Leadership Team for all safety, quality, and production action items. The proper escalation is critical for team member safety during crisis events; weather, fire, EMT/EMS, and coordination for extended periods of production downtime. This person who fills this position will be critical to the success of off-shift manufacturing activities.
