Senior Backend Software Engineer – Java & Spring Boot
Overview / Summary
We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications, APIs, and microservices. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-performing solutions for web, mobile, and enterprise applications in a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with stakeholders to understand business use cases and technical requirements
- Design, develop, and maintain backend applications, APIs, and microservices
- Develop scalable and secure applications using Spring Boot and Java
- Architect and maintain RESTful APIs
- Collaborate with frontend developers and cross-functional teams including product owners, architects, and designers
- Support application deployment in cloud or on-premises environments
- Monitor application health, performance, resiliency, and reliability
- Manage data storage and retrieval using database technologies
- Implement security best practices including encryption and data protection
- Promote engineering best practices including test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery
- Optimize backend infrastructure and deployment processes
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 10 years of IT experience
- 8 years of software development experience
- Strong proficiency in Java programming and object-oriented programming principles
- Experience with Spring Boot framework
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs
- Experience with API development, including enterprise APIs
- Experience designing, developing, and supporting applications on cloud platforms
- Experience working with databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or MongoDB
- Experience collaborating within Agile development environments
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or equivalent cloud services
- Experience with Kotlin
- Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipelines
- Familiarity with Jira or similar Agile tools
- Experience with OpenAPI Specification (OAS) standards
- Strong collaboration skills working with technical teams, product managers, DevOps, UI/UX, and business stakeholders
