Driver Helper

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Drivers Helper to join our team. In this role, you will assist the delivery driver in transporting goods to various locations, ensuring timely and safe deliveries. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. This position is essential for maintaining our high standards of customer service and operational efficiency.

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the distribution facility's Transportation Manager, our Delivery Helpers are expected to be able to operate our delivery process of shipping out products through delivery to our retail customers. Delivery Helpers report to our distribution center between _:__ PM and _:__ AM, depending on the route, and/or stops that may be required. Our Delivery Helpers are expected to accompany our CDL Drivers on their routes with the goal of being as efficient and timely as possible on their deliveries to customers. Most stops are convenience stores, and you are to help the driver offload product into the store in the designated areas (communicated by the driver and/or store manager), while possibly participating in the scanning process before releasing the products to the customers. You are to help your assigned driver collect returns and load the returns back onto the truck where applicable for the customers.

*OPTIONAL* For training, we typically have new helpers work with existing drivers on the routes that might be assigned to them. This time is paid and allows new Transportation Team members the chance to learn our system.

*OPTIONAL* Each Helper will have between _ and __ stops a day, and will operate days a week; through .

Duties include:

· Communicating with your assigned CDL Driver, or dispatcher upon arrival at the distribution center for your delivery route.

· Helping with the use of our Electronic Logging Device (ELD) for all route information (arrival times, departure times, scanning of delivered products, etc.)

· Having cordial customer service conversations with store managers or acting management upon delivery to your route stops

· Ability to deliver product up and down our trailer ramps at your route stops

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs of product at a given time.

· Helping the assigned driver keep the vehicle clean and orderly during your shift.

· All other duties and projects as assigned.

· The ability and willingness to be a team player in times of need and otherwise

Experience and Education:

· *Preferred* minimum of 1-5 years of distribution experience

· DOT law and regulation familiarity and knowledge

· *Preferred* delivery or transportation experience (moving company, box truck or van deliveries, etc.)
