About The Role

The Quality Supervisor directly supervises and coordinates the activities of quality operators in the Incoming Quality Control department. This role ensures that all raw materials, components, and supplies meet company and customer quality standards before entering production. The IQC Supervisor will collaborate closely with other supervisors, quality engineers, production, process technology teams, and suppliers. This role may also serve as a technical trainer and coach/mentor for operators on both regular and on-demand occasions, depending on company needs and individual qualifications.

Key Areas Of Responsibility

  • Supervise, motivate, and develop IQC operators in line with company goals.
  • Review inspection schedules and allocate resources to meet requirements.
  • Manage attendance and shift planning using the attendance record system.
  • Train operators in inspection skills, measurement systems, and technical competencies.
  • Evaluate employee performance, provide constructive feedback, and create improvement plans when needed.
  • Address and resolve employee complaints and conflicts, boosting team morale.
  • Requires comprehensive oversight of several inspection laboratories.

Quality Control

  • Assign and oversee inspection activities for incoming raw materials and components.
  • Monitor and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to incoming inspection.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, and safety requirements.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement activities to improve quality and reduce cost.
  • Collect and escalate feedback during revision or establishment of new work procedures.
  • Manage MES or QMS system regarding the shift he/she supervises.
  • Develop and implement ongoing training programs to enhance skills.

Inspection

  • Supervise incoming material inspections, data collection, and system entry (MES/QMS).
  • Oversee the use of measurement instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, ICP-OES/MS, PSD, electrical testers, etc).
  • Ensure proper Gage R&R and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) are conducted before inspections.
  • Monitor and validate the quality of raw materials, semi-finished s, and consumables.
  • Must learn and understand how to use the measurement systems.
  • Provide technical training to operators for correct use of measurement equipment.
  • Need to evaluate operators based on the required criteria. If someone lacks the expected expertise, a plan should be put in place to help someone improve.

Equipment Management

  • Monitor maintenance status of inspection equipment.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repair per maintenance guidelines.
  • Ensure equipment operation manuals are updated and accessible.

Work Environment/Safety Management

  • Monitor and support inspection room environment improvement on light of 3R (Right material, Right quantity, Right position) and 5S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain)
  • Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) requirements.
  • Enhance employees’ safety awareness through regular safety training.
  • The role also requires physical oversight of seven laboratories distributed across three buildings, which makes the management area extensive.

Supplies Inventory Management

  • Manage inventory of consumables required for incoming inspections.
  • Optimize material usage and reduce waste through effective inventory control.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED); Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1–2 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
  • Strong knowledge of inspection systems, tools, and procedures.
  • Ability to perform all required inspections in relevant processes (electrode, assembly, or formation).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Willingness to work in shifts.

Preferred

  • Experience in battery, automotive, or electronic component manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001/IATF16949 quality systems.
  • Experience with MES, QMS, and SPC tools.
  • Knowledge of LEAN, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • May occasionally left and/or move up to up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to regularly stand, walk, sit, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms to include stoop, kneel, bend or crawl.

Physical & Mental Demands

  • Office Environment: Must wear company-provided uniforms.
  • Production Site: Must wear company-provided uniform and PPE including safety shoes, helmet, safety glasses, and portable gas measuring device.

Work Environment

  • Usual office environment, production, and construction sites
  • Risks include noise (above 90 dB in compressor room), high temperatures (104–122°F in various rooms), and potential exposure to hazardous materials (e.g., heating medium oil, NMP, water treatment chemicals)
