Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive duct leak testing using specialized equipment such as blower doors, manometers, and airflow measurement tools to identify leaks and inefficiencies in HVAC duct systems.
- Candidate should be able to use DM32x and rotrotech duct leak testing equipments
- Perform precise air balancing to optimize airflow distribution throughout heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, ensuring comfort and energy efficiency.
- Interpret schematics, HVAC design plans, and technical drawings to accurately locate system components and diagnose issues.
- Utilize multimeters, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools to troubleshoot electrical components within HVAC systems, including refrigeration units and appliances.
- Assist with equipment repair, maintenance, and installation tasks related to HVAC/R systems, plumbing, refrigeration, boilers, or property maintenance projects.
- Follow safety protocols diligently during all testing and balancing procedures; operate vehicles such as
drivers for site visits while adhering to traffic laws. - Collaborate with team members on field service projects involving welding, mechanical repairs, or appliance servicing to ensure seamless project execution.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a service technician within the construction or property maintenance industry.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in HVAC systems, refrigeration (including ammonia refrigeration), plumbing, or boiler operation.
- Familiarity with schematics, HVAC design principles, and technical documentation is essential for accurate diagnostics.
- Prior field service experience involving equipment repair, welding, or maintenance work is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and airflow measurement devices confidently.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating
drivers preferred. - Knowledge of HVAC/R systems combined with mechanic experience enhances your ability to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or technical background in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, HVAC, or related field 1–3 years of relevant field experience in HVAC testing, duct leakage testing, TAB, or mechanical inspections
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and HVAC drawings Familiarity with NYC DOB TR8 and mechanical inspection procedures preferred
Experience using Retrotec equipment and air balancing instruments Ability to download data, analyze results, and prepare reports
