Job Description

The Human Resources Administration (HRA) is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. As the largest local social services agency in the country, HRA helps more than three million New Yorkers annually through the administration of more than 15 major public assistance programs.

Housing Services Administration is a division of New York City’s Department of Social Services that oversees housing stability and rehousing efforts. HSA administers rental assistance, housing supply, and placement programs to help individuals and families exit shelter, prevent homelessness, and secure safe, affordable housing across the city.

The Human Resources Administration (HRA) is recruiting two (2) Community Coordinators to function as Housing Specialists, who will:

  • Coordinate and manage housing viewings using internal systems, including scheduling appointments and facilitating communication between clients, brokers, landlords, and service providers.

  • Conduct fieldwork to support in-person apartment viewings, including securing access, retrieving keys, and ensuring units are ready for inspection.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, landlords, property managers, and housing partners to expand housing opportunities.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between all stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and smooth coordination throughout the housing process.

  • Manage apartment inventory by sourcing new listings, updating databases, and conducting outreach (calls and in-person visits) to real estate agencies.

  • Oversee application processes by sending application materials, tracking submissions, obtaining required documentation, and coordinating with providers to support approvals.

  • Monitor internal systems to ensure timely submission of housing packages and maintain accurate records.

  • Support and train providers on housing procedures and documentation requirements, and follow up regularly to ensure progress toward housing placement.

Hours/Schedule: Monday- Friday 9am-5pm.
