Other Qualifications Include
- Experience:
- 4 years in payroll processing and/or construction people operations
- Hands-on experience with weekly payroll and multi-system reconciliation
- Google Workspace proficiency
- Technical Skills:
- Payroll systems (construction‑specific a plus)
- Sage 100 Contractor, HH2, or similar ERP/payroll tools
- Google Workspace proficiency
- Compliance Knowledge:
- Oregon & federal labor laws
- Prevailing wage, OSHA, and workers’ compensation (SAIF experience strongly preferred)
- Soft Skills:
- Organized, detail‑oriented, and calm under pressure
- Approachable and trusted by crews
- Comfortable stepping outside a traditional “HR bubble”
- Additional:
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
- Ability to pass background and reference checks
- Posting and managing job ads; screening candidates and coordinating interviews
- Leading new hire onboarding, orientations, and paperwork (I‑9s, background checks, system setup)
- Acting as the primary HR contact for employees, especially during busy early mornings
- Managing benefits enrollment and vendor coordination
- Owning OSHA, workers’ comp, and safety compliance; supporting monthly and weekly safety processes
- Maintaining accurate employee records and reporting (PTO, PFL, 401k, safety)
- Own full‑cycle recruiting for field, skilled trade, and administrative roles, managing frequent ramp‑ups tied to project timelines and seasonality
- Post and manage job ads, monitor applicant flow, conduct initial candidate screens, and coordinate in‑person interviews with leadership and project managers
- Lead onboarding from offer acceptance through first day, including paperwork, background checks, system setup, orientations, and safety/benefits overviews
- Partnering closely with the CFO, Project Managers, and President to support a people‑first workplace
- Other duties as assigned, this is a true “many hats” role in a small business
