A large corporation based in Salinas is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage full-cycle payroll processing for a unionized workforce. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely payroll while maintaining compliance with union agreements, labor laws, and company policies.
Responsibilities:
- Process full-cycle payroll for hourly and salaried employees in a union environment
- Ensure accurate payroll calculations for one union contract, job classifications, and pay rules
- Manage payroll adjustments, retro pay, bonuses, and special payments in accordance with union agreement
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations
- Coordinate union dues, benefit deductions, and garnishments
- Reconcile payroll reports and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner
- Partner with HR and Finance on employee changes, audits, and reporting
- Support payroll audits and provide documentation as needed
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and discretion
Qualifications:
- 3 years of payroll experience, including union payroll
- Minimum high school diploma or GED
- Working knowledge of payroll systems (ADP, UKG, Workday, Paychex, or similar)
- High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Ability to meet strict payroll deadlines
