We are a large, established technology company headquartered in the West End of Richmond, VA, and we are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager to lead and oversee all employee relations functions within our organization. What You Will Do
As the Employee Relations Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and directing employee relations programs across the organization, ensuring alignment with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as our company's mission, values, and goals. Key responsibilities include:
- Creating and implementing employee relations strategies and policies that foster a positive and productive work environment
- Managing the daily activities and professional development of the Employee Relations Specialist team
- Investigating and resolving employee complaints and grievances with fairness, discretion, and thoroughness
- Mediating disputes between employees and management, guiding conflict resolution and performance management processes
- Partnering with HR leadership to review, update, and strengthen company policies and procedures in alignment with corporate goals
- Providing coaching and training to managers and employees on workplace conduct, compliance, and best practices
- Monitoring and staying current on employment law changes and industry trends to ensure ongoing compliance
- Maintaining accurate and thorough records of all employee relations activities
- Reviewing current operating guidelines and procedures to ensure practical application with broader organizational objectives
What We Are Looking For
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and best practices
- Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations, mediations, and delivering coaching and training
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and resolve conflicts effectively
- High level of discretion and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
- Strategic thinking, conflict resolution, ethical judgment, strong communication, people leadership, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to driving organizational goals.
