Director, Commercial Finance- 3 Days a Week Onsite, NYC
We're partnering with a global media and marketing agency network on the search for a Director, Commercial Finance to join its commercial finance team in New York.
The role blends client-facing commercial work (new business, contract terms, pricing, vendor negotiations) with the fundamentals of the seat (profitability, revenue recognition, month end, budgeting), so it suits someone who can operate at a high level and still get into the detail! What you'll be doing:
- Lead client-facing commercial conversations, including contract and MSA terms, pricing, and ad hoc commercial needs
- Manage the P&L for your portfolio: monthly forecasting, actuals reconciliation, and cost approval across staffing, intercompany transfers, and accruals
- Own external client reporting and ensure ongoing contractual compliance across each account
- Manage staff plan utilization and pricing, and lead vendor-side negotiations
- Track signed projects against budget and proactively flag staffing gaps
- Ensure financial obligations are met across international client contracts, working with internal and external auditors and client procurement teams as needed
- Manage and develop two direct reports
What we're looking for:
- 8-10 years of accounting or accounting/finance experience, gained within a global media or marketing agency environment (not brand-side, and not a production or creative background)
- Currently an Associate Director or Director
- Not a fit for a Manager looking for their next promotion
- Commercially minded, with genuine comfort in client-facing negotiations as well as the accounting fundamentals
- Comfortable managing a small team while still being hands-on
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or equivalent professional experience
Compensation & logistics:
- Base salary: up to $180,000, plus bonus
- Hybrid schedule: 3 days per week in office NYC
- Reports to the Group Directo
- Team: 2 direct reports
Salary : $150,000 - $180,000
