RESIDENTIAL SERVICE TECH

SUMMARY OF ROLE
Howell’s Heating & Air Residential Service Tech is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in residential settings. This role involves providing exceptional customer service while ensuring systems operate efficiently, safely, and in accordance with local codes and manufacturer specifications. The technician must be skilled in troubleshooting a wide range of HVAC equipment, from traditional furnaces and air conditioners to modern energy-efficient systems. Strong communication, time management, and technical abilities are essential, as the technician represents the company in customers' homes and plays a key role in client satisfaction and retention.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
include but are not limited to:
1. Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair residential HVAC systems including furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, and ductless systems
2. Perform routine maintenance and seasonal tune-ups on HVAC equipment
3. Install and replace parts and components as needed, ensuring all work meets manufacturer and code specifications
4. Provide clear and professional communication with homeowners regarding system issues, repair options, and maintenance recommendations
5. Responsible for communicating with CSR as it relates to schedule changes, problems encountered, if parts are needed and/or warranty issue
6. Complete service reports, invoices and collects payment, and documentation accurately and promptly
7. Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle and ensure inventory is stocked with necessary inventory and tools; responsible for transporting vehicle for proper periodic maintenance
8. Maintain knowledge of industry standards, OSHA compliances and adherence to all company policies and procedures
9. Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and industry best practices


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Education sufficient to effectively and efficiently apply industry and company standards as it applies to the proper diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and/or installation of HVAC equipment
• Knowledge and understanding of the appropriate use of technician tools
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and time management
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in varied weather conditions
• Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Capable of working at heights, on ladders, and in tight spaces


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or educational equivalent
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and reliable transportation
• 2 years experience in HVAC serving and maintenance
• Must be EPA certified
• Ability to successfully pass a background check and other pre-employment screening
• CPR and first aid certified or agreeable to become certified


ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Nate certification
• HVAC trade school or formal training program


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly
• Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Must be able to climb ladders and work from heights, including rooftops
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and confined spaces
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate tools and equipment safely
