Howard Community College invites passionate nurse educators to join our team in preparing the next generation of nurses. The Full-time Nursing Faculty member functions within the mission, philosophy, and procedures within the college’s policies. Full-time Faculty may teach a combination of didactic, lab, and clinical courses to meet their Full-Time Equivalent Hours. Teaching assignment(s) may include any of the approved courses within the nursing science/clinical practice discipline for which the candidate is qualified to teach.Nursing faculty facilitate the learning of nursing students and empower them with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to provide safe, cost-effective, and interprofessional care to clients, families, and communities. Faculty shall create dynamic learning environments to engender desired cognitive, affective, and psychomotor outcomes; develop students' behavioral and socialization skills expected of nursing professionals; assess and evaluate student success; participate in curriculum design and program outcomes; function as a change agent and demonstrate excellence in nursing education and nursing practice, and continuously pursue quality improvements as a nursing educator.Candidates must be passionate about nursing, education, and innovation and looking for a full-time career where they will make a difference in healthcare, education, and population health.10-month, budgeted faculty member at any level and in any college, division is expected to teach 14-16 units per semester, with 1 credit hour equaling one unit. Twelve-month faculty are expected to each an additional 6-credits over winter and/or summer. Other teaching requirements and unit definitions can be found in the faculty handbook. In addition to teaching, faculty are expected to maintain at least 5 office hours per week.
