Job Title: Plant Operator
The Plant Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of all aspects of a natural gas processing plant.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures proper flows, temperatures, pressures, and levels.
- Recognizes operating deviations and takes appropriate corrective action.
- Identifies equipment abnormalities and communicates with maintenance for significant repairs.
- Records parameter values, completes operating reports, notifies environmental deviations, and performs lockout/tag-out procedures for maintenance and repair.
- Complies with PSM regulations.
Key Tasks:
- Operates various plant facilities' equipment/systems, including cryogenic plant processing, hydrocarbon fractionation units, process controls and measurement, engines and compressors, pumps, pressure relief system, instrument air system, dehydrators, fuel system, treating, emergency shutdown systems, reciprocating compressors, gas fired heaters, process pumps, amine treating systems, inlet gas receivers, and NGL storage and transfer facilities.
- Diagnoses mechanical problems, makes minor repairs as needed, and assists other crafts personnel with tasks as assigned.
- Serves to optimize processing through facility maintenance and ensures proper product specifications.
- Responds to alarms and problems within the plant and makes the appropriate corrections.
Requirements:
- Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.
- Utilizes problem-solving skills to effectively work with colleagues.
- Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a team.
- Maintains attention to detail and accuracy.
- Holds moderate to advanced computer skills, including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
- Has experience working with pressure vessels and equipment.
- Able to perform shift work, including routine work on holidays and weekends.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of operating experience in the oil/gas industry.
- Experience working in a cryogenics or processing plant.
- Experience with operating processes using DCS control, preferably Delta V or Wonderware.
Certifications:
- No certifications are required.
This position requires occasional travel to remote sites, potential exposure to flammable material, adherence to safety protocols, compliance with operating regulations, and rigorous physical demands.
