Contract Duration
- Coaching contracts last for one school year, at which time they may be renewed by the building principal and/or athletic director.
- Coaches are expected to perform their duties and schedule practices and contests in the best interests of the student-athletes, adhering to guidelines from relevant governing bodies.
Compensation
Supplemental contracts provide a percentage increase to the employee's base salary. Contact the building principal or athletic director for specific percentages.
Minimum Requirements
Preferred
- Be a current certified teacher in good standing in the HCSD
- Possess relevant experience in the sport
Other Requirements
- Be able to learn and follow all applicable policies from all relevant governing bodies under the supervision of the Athletic Director
- Effectively and ethically liaise between the school district and students and guardians under the supervision of the Athletic Director
- Establish and maintain high standards for academic achievement, attendance, and behavior for student-athletes
- Effectively coach and manage the team from a logistical, scheduling, and strategic perspective under the supervision of the Athletic Director

Houston County Middle School, a close-knit campus of roughly 300 students in Erin, Tennessee, is seeking a Middle School Head Softball Coach to help lead our grades 6–8 Softball program. In this role, you will plan, organize, and implement comprehensive practice plans, conditioning sessions, and game strategies that align with the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association and district policies. You'll collaborate with the athletic director, assistant coaches, building principal, and fellow coaches to coordinate schedules, manage equipment, and ensure a safe and supportive environment. As the middle school coach, you will work with our high school coaching staff to develop a cohesive program that prepares student-athletes for high school Softball. You'll engage with student-athletes, parents, and the broader school community through clear and consistent communication, promoting our school's spirit at games and events.
