Assist Chief Financial Officer with fiscal management for Housing Assistance Corporation and its subsidiaries or related entities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Management Of Finance Department Staff
- Oversee day-to-day activities of department.
- Track work schedules, vacations, and sick leave.
- Train new and existing employees
- Prioritize and assign tasks as needed.
- Prepare and conduct performance reviews.
- Foster collaboration, provide mentorship, and build a positive team culture through clear communication and conflict resolution.
- Maintain Chart of Accounts, Departments & Subdivisions
- Reconcile “due from (to)” accounts, pass-through revenue & expense accounts, balance sheets for pass-through portion of permanent housing programs.
- Maintain fixed asset schedule.
- Calculate monthly cost allocations and make journal entries for: Depreciation expenses, Property & Liability Insurance expenses, Health Insurance, Rent & Telephone expenses, and Admin allocations.
- Ensure all month-end and year-end closings are completed accurately and on time. Assist in preparing month-end financial reports.
- Daily cash management and transfers between bank accounts. Prepare weekly cash reports.
- Management of Massachusetts Vendor Website.
- Oversee and/or enter government contract payments.
- Oversee and/or perform monthly reconciliation of bank statement balances to GL cash balances.
Internal Control And Compliance
- Develop and implement control procedures. Ensure compliance with GAAP/GAAS.
- Oversee compliance and maintain temporarily restricted net asset schedule.
- Assist with yearly budget preparation.
- Act as primary point of contact with auditors and manage audit procedures.
FP&A Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting and scenario analysis.
- Prepare variance analysis and identify key drivers impacting financial performance.
- Partner with department heads to provide insights for resource allocation and cost optimization.
- Support strategic planning initiatives with data-driven recommendations.
- Deliver monthly and quarterly performance dashboards to leadership.
- Monthly meetings with board finance committee.
- Monthly managers’ meetings.
- Weekly Finance Team meetings.
- Monthly financial reviews with department directors.
- Be familiar with and incorporate HAC’s Guiding Values into daily job responsibilities.
- Support Company mission and culture.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Computer proficiency with spreadsheets and accounting systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and lead a team effectively.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree accounting or related field preferred
- 5 years of finance/accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at
- The functions of this role are conducted in an office and team environment.
- This role is paid on a salaried-exempt basis.
- Typically, full-time salaried employees work 35 hours during a Monday through Friday workweek. However, this is a salaried position. Therefore, the individual is expected to work as required to complete the duties of the position. This may mean hours beyond 35 per week are required.
