PRN Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our surgical team on a PRN basis. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside leading cosmetic surgeons and anesthesia providers in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.

Position Summary

The PRN Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care throughout the patient's surgical experience, including pre-operative assessment, intraoperative circulating, and post-anesthesia recovery. The RN will collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and administrative staff to ensure exceptional clinical outcomes and an outstanding patient experience.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive pre-operative nursing assessments and verify patient readiness for surgery.
• Prepare patients for anesthesia and surgical procedures.
• Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, medications, allergies, and nursing assessments in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments safely in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
• Serve as the Circulating Nurse during cosmetic surgical procedures while maintaining a safe, sterile environment.
• Collaborate with surgeons, CRNAs, anesthesiologists, and the surgical team to ensure efficient and safe patient care.
• Monitor patients during Phase I and Phase II Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) recovery.
• Assess and manage pain, recognize changes in patient condition, and respond appropriately to post-operative complications.
• Provide comprehensive patient and family education regarding recovery, medications, wound care, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with AAAHC standards, infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, and patient safety guidelines.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain a culture of excellence and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
• Current BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required or obtained within the required timeframe.
• Minimum of one year of experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), Operating Room (OR), PACU, or perioperative setting preferred.
• Experience in cosmetic or plastic surgery is highly desirable.
• Strong IV insertion, venipuncture, and patient assessment skills.
• Thorough knowledge of sterile technique, infection prevention, and perioperative nursing standards.
• Excellent critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment.

• Flexible availability to work PRN based on the surgical schedule.

Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
