In this role, you will lead the injection-molded packaging department’s tooling and processing efforts. Responsibilities

Maintain relationships with customers’ engineers for tooling and molding support.

Coordinate with internal engineers and Manufacturing to discuss part design and manufacturing procedures for molds and secondary operations.

Secure quotations from mold makers and assist in the quotation process.

Arrange for updated part drawings when Sales issues a "go-ahead" document for new tools.

Coordinate with Production Scheduling to have tools sampled.

Work closely with Manufacturing and Quality Assurance personnel during sampling runs.

Perform data analysis of first-article metrology; interpret data and provide appropriate tool-correction recommendations.

Troubleshoot molds and molded parts to provide recommendations for improvements or defect elimination.

Participate in the design phase of new tooling projects, including the evaluation of part design for manufacturability (DFM).

Participate in meetings as required to determine customer tooling requirements.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent professional experience.

Five (5) years of on-the-job experience in a mold-making environment and/or the design of injection molds.

Strong knowledge of the plastic injection molding process; experience in Moldflow analysis is a significant plus.

Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, etc.) is preferred but not required.

Experience estimating tooling and piece-part costs is highly useful.

Experience in the management of multi-tool projects is extremely desirable.
