Essential Functions

To perform the Doorman (Garage) position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Transfer trunks, packages and other baggage to bell station or garage

 

  • Supply guests with information on hotel services and amenities

 

  • Supply guests with travel information such as transportation rates, routes and schedules

 

  • Open hotel’s main doors and escort incoming guest to front desk for check-in

 

  • Take luggage to luggage storage area and tag for bellman to pick up

 

  • Perform related services as requested by guest or manager

 

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required for an individual to successfully perform the duties and responsibility of the Doorman (Garage) position:

 

Language Ability

  • Effectively communicate and interact in English with people from diverse backgrounds

 

  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos

 

  • Write simple correspondence

 

  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and co-associates of the hotel

 

Math Ability

  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

 

  • Compute rate, ratio and percent

 

  • Draw and interpret bar graphs

 

Reasoning Ability

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions

 

  • Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

 

Work Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

 

  • The position is located outdoors where the weather conditions are sometime adverse (rain, cold, hot)

 

Physical Demands

  • Regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds

 

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds

 

  • Regularly stand, walk, use hands to fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear

 

  • Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

 

  • Safely navigate multiple flights of stairs

 

Position Status and Availability

  • A full-time, flexible (AM or PM) shift, Monday - Sunday including holidays

 

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED)

 

  • One (1) year of customer service experience required

 

Previous experience as a Doorman is highly preferred
