Position Title: Night Auditor
Reports To: Night Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Third Shift (11p.m. - 7 a.m.)
Position Summary:
The Night Auditor oversees Front Desk operations during the overnight shift, performs end-of-day accounting, ensures accurate reporting, and provides exceptional guest service. This role requires professionalism, accuracy, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage high-stress situations while working independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform end-of-day postings, roll dates, reconcile accounts, and prepare daily revenue reports.
- Assist guests with check-in/check-out, verifying registration, payment, and room assignments.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest inquiries and requests, including special arrangements or services, including but not limited to: front desk operations, and some light housekeeping or maintenance tasks.
- Provide high-level guest service, including de-escalation and resolution of complaints or concerns.
- Use suggestive selling techniques to promote hotel services.
- Maintain communication with staff via radio/Slack/other channels, including staff from different departments.
- Process direct bills and ensure proper documentation and reporting.
- Conduct periodic inspections of rooms, common areas, and exterior property to maintain standards.
- Follow operational policies and procedures, including cash and credit handling, safety, and security.
- Identify and address potential hazards or security concerns, including enforcing key control procedures and securing exterior doors.
- Collaborate with team members to promote a positive work environment and support staff in high-pressure situations.
- Communicate in a professional manner with guests and staff via multiple communication channels (email, online chat, messaging aps, in-person, etc.)
- Attend all required meetings & training.
- Perform valet and bell attendant duties overnight in the absence of valet staff.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or move throughout the property for up to 8 hours.
- Must be able to work independently and make sound decisions without direct supervision.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior hotel experience preferred, including select-service or full-service properties; luxury experience is a plus.
- Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage high-stress situations effectively, including guest de-escalation.
- Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Computer proficiency - Microsoft Suite experience preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License.
