What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Foreman position at Hotard Coaches?
The Shop Foreman is responsible for maintaining maintenance department standards set by the Maintenance Manager. This role involves leading the maintenance facility, distributing, assisting, and monitoring work assignments to ensure a constant workflow in a clean and safe environment. Input is encouraged to improve operations, but changes must be approved by the Maintenance Director. After six months of training, you will have after-hour on-call responsibilities for 1-2 nights per week and eventually a weekend rotation.
Essential Job Functions:
- Oversee the daily operations of the maintenance facility in Port Arthur, TX.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Lead a team of maintenance personnel, distributing work assignments, providing technical assistance, and monitoring progress.
- Supervise and inspect the work of other mechanics to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
- Maintain a constant workflow in a clean and safe environment.
- Perform hands-on maintenance tasks on company vehicles.
- Train staff on proper maintenance procedures.
- Facilitate communication between the maintenance and operations departments.
- Manage after-hour on-call responsibilities for 1-2 nights per week and a weekend rotation after the initial training period.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Promote a positive and productive work environment.
- Maintain vehicle reliability and safety.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for maintenance personnel.
- Ensure efficient use of resources and manage competing demands.
- Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Demonstrate a high level of commitment to job assignments and company goals.
- Respond flexibly to dynamic demands and changes in the work environment.
- Support the overall mission of Hotard Shuttle by ensuring operational excellence and safety standards.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Be available for on-call rotation at least two weekends per month.
- Possess current CDL with proper qualifications and a DOT-approved medical card, recommended
- Participate in daily duties to support vehicle and property maintenance.
- Resolve customer issues as needed.
Job Skills and Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma/ GED
Required Experience:
- 1 year of Diesel Engine Maintenance/ 3 yrs Management experience
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to fluently speak, read, and write English
- Strong computer skills: Excel, Word, Outlook
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of the Motor Coach industry and/or transportation industry
- Experience in group travel or tourism
Pay & Benefits:
- Hourly: $35 - $45 per/hour (Based on experience)
