SUMMARY:
The Operations Coordinator is responsible for the daily oversight of transit operations, with a strong emphasis on safety, contract adherence, reliability, and service quality. This role supervises driver performance, enforces policies, and manages real-time service execution. The Operations Coordinator works closely with the Operations Director and cross-functional teams including Safety, Dispatch, Maintenance, and Transit Coordination to ensure service delivery meets contractual requirements and aligns with company standards. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring responsiveness, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Although additional duties and related tasks may be assigned, the essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:
Daily Operations Execution
• Oversee and execute operator and vehicle assignments based on schedules developed by the Transit Coordinator and Operations Director.
• Ensure each Lot’s Driver Lead has the daily schedule and supports on-the-ground execution of service. Provide oversight and resolve issues as needed.
• Rotate between assigned operating locations (lots) to provide consistent, on-the-ground supervision and support.
• Maintain visibility across operating locations (lots) to ensure adherence to safety protocols, performance standards, and contract requirements.
• Monitor daily service to ensure on-time performance, route adherence, and rider satisfaction.
• Make immediate adjustments to assignments in response to staffing or equipment issues.
• Conduct pre- and post-shift safety briefings and gather operator feedback.
• Respond to field incidents and customer service issues to ensure continuity of safe and reliable service.
• Coordinate closely with Dispatch and Maintenance to support smooth operations and rapid issue resolution.
Supervision, Safety & Compliance
• Serve as an on-the-ground resource for drivers, providing real-time guidance, support, and oversight to ensure consistent application of safety and service best practices.
• Provide day-to-day supervision of drivers, including coaching, verbal feedback, and performance reinforcement to ensure professional conduct and compliance with policies.
• Enforce all safety protocols, company policies, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
• Conduct ride-alongs, field observations, and periodic safety audits to evaluate driver performance, safe operating practices, and service delivery.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through hands-on coaching, daily communication, and visible leadership in the field.
• Support ongoing safety campaigns, refresher training, and compliance initiatives to drive continuous improvement and reduce operational risk.
Contract Adherence & Service Standards
• Monitor operations to ensure full compliance with service delivery expectations outlined in customer contracts or agency agreements.
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time performance, missed trips, and customer complaints to support contractual reporting.
• Identify and address, communicate potential service gaps or contractual risks in real time.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (DOT, FMCSA, OSHA) and all internal safety protocols.
• Collaborate with the Director of Safety and Director of Maintenance to enforce a proactive safety culture.
Culture, Engagement, and Representation
• Promote a positive, inclusive, and results-driven work environment.
• Represent Hotard Shuttle in external meetings, partnerships, and community initiatives.
• Contribute to company-wide initiatives, long-term planning, and continuous improvement efforts.

Education / Experience Required:
• No formal education required
• Minimum 2 years’ total experience with CDL (Class A or B)
• Minimum 1-year experience operating vehicle “in-type” (similar to prospective position)
• Demonstrated progressive leadership roles
• Safety, Training and DOT Regulation experience; No formal education required
