Position Summary
Seeking a Lead Workday HRIS Consultant to provide functional leadership across the Workday platform and broader HR technology landscape. This contract-to-hire opportunity will support the configuration, optimization, and delivery of Workday solutions across Payroll, Compensation, Benefits, Time Tracking, Absence, Security, and related HR processes.
The successful candidate will combine strong Workday expertise with a collaborative approach, serving as a trusted advisor to the HRIS team while supporting system enhancements, troubleshooting complex issues, and delivering scalable HR technology solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as a functional lead and subject matter expert for Workday and HR technology initiatives.
- Provide hands-on configuration, support, testing, and troubleshooting across multiple Workday modules.
- Lead system enhancements, releases, testing activities, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Mentor HRIS team members by providing guidance on solution design, configuration, and issue resolution.
- Partner with Payroll, Compensation, Benefits, HR, and Talent Acquisition teams to deliver effective Workday solutions.
- Collaborate with technical teams on requirements, integrations, testing, and deployments.
- Support Workday releases, feature adoption, and production readiness activities.
- Perform impact assessments, root cause analysis, and configuration reviews.
- Develop documentation, testing materials, and knowledge-sharing resources.
- Recommend Workday best practices and opportunities for optimization.
Required Qualifications
- 7 years of HRIS experience with strong Workday expertise.
- Experience supporting multiple Workday functional areas, including Payroll, Compensation, Benefits, Time Tracking, Absence, and Security.
- Strong understanding of Workday configuration, business processes, reporting, security, and testing methodologies.
- Experience building reports, dashboards, calculated fields, EIBs, and supporting data initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively across business and technical teams.
- Experience coaching and mentoring HRIS analysts.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Core Technical Requirements
Workday Payroll Configuration
- Hands-on experience configuring Payroll, including calculated fields, pay components, and business processes.
Workday Compensation & Benefits
- Strong configuration experience across Compensation and Benefits modules.
Workday Integrations Support
- Experience supporting EIBs, PECI, field mapping, and partnering with integration developers. Direct configuration experience is required; integration coding experience is not required.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
50% – Workday Configuration
- Configure and maintain Payroll, Compensation, and Benefits modules.
- Build and troubleshoot calculated fields, reports, business processes, and security configurations.
25% – Integration Support
- Partner with integration developers on requirements and field mapping.
- Validate PECI and payroll file outputs.
- Support EIB loads, testing, and defect resolution.
25% – Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Mentor HRIS analysts on configuration and troubleshooting.
- Lead system enhancements, releases, and testing initiatives.
- Partner with Payroll, Compensation, Benefits, HR, and Talent Acquisition teams.
