JOB SUMMARY
This position is for a surgical scrub technician whose responsibility is to perform surgical technician and GI technician duties for both elective and emergency procedures in a variety of specialty areas. Participates in activities that ensure the safe and efficient provision of surgical services to neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations. Refers unusual clinical problems to the registered nurse. The position reports to the Director of Surgical Services.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum level of Education: Education level equivalent to completion of a surgical scrub technology program. May have documented and demonstrated on the job training (OJT).
- Formal Training: Clinical competency in surgical scrub technology. Prior operating room experience preferred.
- Licensure, Certifications & Registration: Surgical scrub technology certification preferred. BLS certification required within 90 days of employment.
- Work Experience: Basic surgical scrub technology skills. Intermediate knowledge of the nursing process. Basic computer skills. Basic instrument nomenclature. Knowledge of sterility and infection prevention.
