Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain and update employee records within HRIS platforms and payroll software.
- Reconcile payroll data with accounting systems like QuickBooks or PeopleSoft, ensuring consistency across financial records.
- Prepare and review journal entries related to payroll transactions, including debits & credits and general ledger reconciliations.
- Oversee benefits administration related to payroll, including deductions, tax withholdings, and compliance with governmental regulations.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate data entry for new hires, terminations, and changes in employee status.
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes as needed to support overall financial management.
- Conduct analysis of payroll reports to identify discrepancies or errors; resolve issues promptly.
- Support audits by providing detailed documentation of payroll transactions and account reconciliations.
- Stay informed about updates in tax laws, labor regulations, and best practices related to payroll management.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in payroll management within a corporate accounting environment; familiarity with systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or Ceridian is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, general ledger accounting, and financial concepts.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms; experience with HRIS systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of benefits administration processes and governmental tax regulations affecting payroll.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; familiarity with 10 key typing is advantageous.
- Analytical skills necessary for account reconciliation and financial analysis.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially while maintaining professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
