POSITION SUMMARY:
The Hospice of Baton Rouge is seeking an experienced and compassionate RN - Clinical Manager to support the Director of Clinical Services in overseeing hospice nursing operations.
This role provides clinical leadership, guidance, and oversight while supporting nursing staff, fostering collaboration and accountability, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting excellence in patient-centered care, documentation, and productivity. The position requires strong leadership, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to effectively manage both people and processes in a dynamic hospice environment.
JOB FUNCTIONS:

Support the Director of Clinical Services in overseeing hospice nursing staff, ensuring high-quality patient care, accurate documentation, and efficient use of resources.

Provide daily leadership, guidance, and supervision to nursing staff, promoting teamwork, communication, accountability, and staff morale.

Conduct regular one-to-one and team meetings to evaluate performance, provide feedback, and support professional development.

Assist with staffing, scheduling, and assignment management to ensure adequate coverage and appropriate workload distribution.

Implement performance improvement plans as needed to address individual or team development opportunities.

Ensure the delivery of compassionate, patient-centered care in accordance with hospice standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Monitor patient care plans to ensure they meet individual patient needs; complete ride-alongs and reinforce Perfect Visit Standards on an ongoing and annual basis.

Address concerns from patients, families, and facilities, and review patient outcomes to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

Implement and oversee clinical policies and procedures to ensure alignment with industry standards and regulatory guidelines.

Oversee the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of nursing documentation; regularly audit patient charts and address documentation gaps.

Train and support nursing staff on documentation standards and best practices.

Track nursing staff productivity, analyzing visit data, time management, and patient loads to ensure efficiency without compromising care.

Collaborate with nursing leadership to establish and achieve productivity goals and address workflow challenges.

Manage pay applications for designated teams or employees, including approval of time, mileage, and PTO requests.

Oversee patient-related expenses, including medical supplies, medications, and equipment, while adhering to budgetary guidelines.

Collaborate with finance and leadership to monitor expenses related to overtime, travel, and patient care costs.

Prepare and provide reports related to nursing operations, productivity, and expense management as requested.

Assist in developing and implementing educational programs and in-service training to enhance staff knowledge and skills.

Mentor and support nursing staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Ensure nursing staff maintain required licensure, certifications, and continuing education.

May assist with admissions, informational visits, skilled nursing visits, or Service Intensity Add-On visits based on staffing and census needs.

May participate in on-call coverage or continuous care as needed.

Participate in community education events or programs as requested.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Services.
Education:

Nursing Degree required
-
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Certifications:
-
Current Louisiana Registered Nurse (RN) license

Current CPR certification
Work Experience:
-
Minimum of 3-5 years RN leadership experience
-
2 years of hospice or home health experience preferred
