Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for our hospice team, working exclusively during the morning shift. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care within various healthcare settings, including hospice, long-term care, or hospital environments. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by providing respectful and supportive care to our patients in their homes or care facilities.
Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using safe lifting practices and assistive devices like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, ensuring timely documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support medication administration under supervision and ensure proper handling of medical supplies and equipment in compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, respecting their dignity and cultural preferences while fostering a calm environment.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times by adhering strictly to HIPAA guidelines and safeguarding medical records.
- Assist with transfers and mobility using appropriate techniques to prevent injury for both patients and staff.
Experience
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in dementia/memory care settings is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency in electronic health records (Consolo) management and medical documentation practices.
- Experience in hospice care or end-of-life support roles is preferred; however, candidates with backgrounds in critical care, ICU, emergency medicine, or hospital medicine are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to geriatrics, palliative care, and complex medical conditions such as infectious diseases or trauma is advantageous.
- Strong caregiving skills combined with excellent communication abilities enable effective interaction with patients of all ages and their families.
