What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Apprentice position at Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems?
Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems provides size reduction systems and powder processing solutions for chemical, pharmaceutical, food, mineral, plastics, and cosmetic applications. Throughout our history, we have led the industry in coarse to ultra-fine grinding, classification, mixing, drying, containment, compaction, and analytical equipment.
The CNC Apprentice will receive training in turning and milling CNC machine operation, manual machining, and mechanical equipment assembly. The role combines hands-on work with structured instruction and is designed to build skills in machining and assembly under supervision. This apprenticeship provides a pathway for advancement into roles such as CNC Operator, Mechanical Assembler, or Maintenance Technician.
Essential Duties:
· Assist with machining and assembly operations, including setup, part production, and general support tasks under supervision.
· Assemble mechanical components and equipment according to blueprints and specifications.
· Read and follow schematics, shop drawings, and work instructions after training.
· Perform routine machine maintenance and basic tool care.
· Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in accordance with company standards.
· Complete required training modules and apply technical skills in daily tasks.
Basic Qualifications:
· High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education or training.
· Demonstrated mechanical aptitude or interest in machining, manufacturing, or related technical trades.
· Ability to learn and apply technical instructions after training.
· Basic math proficiency, including addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, and measurement conversions.
· Ability to safely use or learn to use hand tools, measuring instruments, and small power tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Prior exposure to CNC or manual machining through coursework or work experience.
· Experience performing basic CNC setup tasks, including tool offsets, work offsets, and part loading.
· Experience using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers) to verify part dimensions.
· Familiarity with basic computer interfaces and digital control panels.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to remain in a stationary position during the shift.
· Ability to position self to access, operate, or work on equipment.
· Ability to transport, position, move, or lift materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as required
· Ability to ascend or descend stairs or ladders while using required PPE.
Salary Range:
· $28,639 - $42,911
Salaries will vary and may be above or below this range commensurate with several factors including experience, education, training, location, and merit.
