Service Technician

Horwath Laundry Equipment is a fourth-generation, family-owned company that sells, installs and services commercial laundry equipment throughout the region. We are looking for a dependable Field Service Technician to join our Rapid City team.

In this position, you will diagnose, repair and maintain commercial laundry equipment at hotels, healthcare facilities, correctional facilities, laundromats and other customer locations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving electrical and mechanical problems, working independently and building strong relationships with customers.

Commercial laundry experience is not required. We will provide equipment and manufacturer training for the right person with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical problems on commercial washers and dryers.
• Troubleshoot equipment using wiring diagrams, schematics, multimeters, manometers and other diagnostic tools.
• Work with electrical, gas, water, air and hydraulic systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, equipment inspections and occasional installation work.
• Explain equipment problems and recommend repairs clearly to customers.
• Complete service reports, document repairs and record parts used.
• Maintain an organized service vehicle, tools and assigned parts inventory.
• Travel to customer facilities throughout western South Dakota and the surrounding region.
• Work occasional overtime and overnight travel as customers require.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and safe troubleshooting practices.
• Ability to read or learn to read wiring diagrams and equipment schematics.
• Comfortable using hand tools, power tools and electronic testing equipment.
• Strong customer-service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a daily service schedule.
• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting up to 75 pounds, moving equipment and working in tight spaces or varying temperatures.

SCHEDULE AND TRAVEL

This is a full-time position based out of our Rapid City office. The normal schedule is Monday through Friday 7:30-4:00. Regional driving is a regular part of the position, with approximately [1-2] overnight stays per month. Additional overtime may occasionally be required to meet customer needs.
