Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Tradesworker (Material Recovery Facility - MRF) to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating equipment within the MRF to ensure efficient sorting, processing, and recycling of materials. Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor machinery such as conveyor belts, balers, shredders, and sorting equipment to process recyclable materials effectively.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Sort and separate recyclable materials according to established guidelines, ensuring quality control standards are met.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials from trucks and storage areas, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Follow safety protocols diligently, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Document operational activities accurately, including production logs, maintenance reports, and incident reports.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily processing targets while maintaining high safety standards.
Skills
- Proven experience operating industrial machinery in a recycling or waste management environment is preferred.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation and hazardous materials handling.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to coordinate effectively with colleagues.
- Basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting minor equipment issues are advantageous.
- Attention to detail to ensure sorting accuracy and compliance with environmental regulations.
