What are the responsibilities and job description for the AIRPORT SMS MANAGER position at Horry County, (SC)?
• Managing the daily operation of the SMS program which includes activities
pertaining to safety policy, safety assurance, safety risk management, and safety promotion.
• Development, implementation, and maintenance of the SMS Manual.
• Ensuring compliance with applicable FAA requirements related to MYR’s SMS.
• Conducting timely and comprehensive investigations of reported hazards.
• Communicating pertinent safety information to various tenants, stakeholders, and airport employees.
• Planning, developing, promoting, and administering safety education programs with respect to the SMS Manual.
• Communicating information, trends and safety statistics via reports to the Director of Airports, Director of Operations and Airfields, and others, as needed.
• Manage the airport’s confidential hazard reporting system.
• Lead accident and incident investigations.
• Notifying senior airport staff when an integrated hazard assessment is needed.
• Serve as the primary administrator of the Airport’s SMS software (i.e. electronic records retention and management).
• Working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 139, FAA Advisory Circulars, FAA Orders, and other applicable aviation regulatory requirements.
• Assist with management of airside and landside operations to include management of related training records and logs.
• Participate as part of a Team that ensures the airport’s compliance with OSHA regulations.
• Work as part of the Operations Team performing general customer service duties during peak operational periods.
• Assist administrative staff with airline liaison duties.
• Assist in resolving airline grievances.
• Interact with tenants to proactively resolve issues that may impact operations.
• Conduct scheduled and ad hoc meetings related to safety and operations.
• Provide leadership in a manner that influences staff to support safety promotion.
• Foster an environment that allows SMS to be incrementally introduced and accepted by MYR’s tenants and staff.
• Interact and develop positive relationships with senior staff, department heads, regulatory agencies and tenants.
• Any other duties assigned by the Director of Airports.
Salary : $59,834 - $89,752
