Ability Beyond Barriers is seeking compassionate, dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide person-centered support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and head/spinal cord injuries in our residential programs.

As a DSP, you will play a vital role in helping individuals live safely, independently, and meaningfully in their homes and communities.


What You’ll Do

  • Provide person-centered supports that promote dignity, independence, and choice
  • Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and home management
  • Help individuals build life skills and achieve personal goals
  • Encourage and support community involvement (recreation, employment, social activities)
  • Support health, safety, and wellness, including medication assistance (as certified)
  • Provide safe transportation to appointments and activities
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation and reports
  • Advocate for the rights, dignity, and well-being of those served

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to support individuals with varying needs using positive, respectful approaches

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (or at least 1 year of related experience)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the role (lifting, assisting with mobility, etc.)

Important Role Expectations

This position is considered an Essential Employee role, meaning:

  • You may be required to report to work during emergencies or inclement weather
  • You may be temporarily assigned to different residential locations to ensure continuity of care

Sunday - 8:30 am - 8:30 pm
Monday - 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm
Tuesday - 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm
Wednesday - OFF
Thursday - OFF
Friday - OFF
Saturday - 8:30 am to 8:30 pm
