As a Construction Management EIT, you will support Construction Managers and Engineers with inspection, materials testing, and contract administration on transportation projects, primarily road and bridge work for the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD).
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
• Support construction management activities including inspection, testing, and documentation
• Perform field inspections, materials testing, and daily reporting, particularly during the first two years
• Develop working knowledge of construction plans, specifications, and contracts
• Operate survey equipment, MIT scanners, testing equipment, and other measurement tools to verify compliance with contract requirements
• Utilize spreadsheets, databases, CAD programs, and construction management software to support contractor payments and track testing frequencies
• Research technical topics and apply relevant standards, manuals, and regulations
• Communicate effectively with contractors, inspectors, and clients to support project delivery
Growth and Development:
• Progress into a team leadership role as experience and competency increase
• Provide technical recommendations based on field experience
• Obtain Professional Engineer licensure
• Develop skills in project management, client service, invoicing, and team supervision
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering - EIT
• FE exam completion preferred but not required at time of hire
• Ability to obtain ITD inspection and WAQTC testing certifications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and reliability
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and desire to learn
• Ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure or challenging situations
Work Environment and Requirements:
• Ability to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, as project demands require
• Ability to work 50 to 60 hours per week during peak construction season
• Ability to travel and work out of town as needed
• Ability to work in field environments on active construction sites
