Job Description
Creates a safe and enriching environment where children learn, grow, and thrive. This role implements structured activities, fosters positive relationships, and supports social, emotional, and academic development while upholding the YMCA's core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Major Duties/Responsibilities
- Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
- Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans.
- Supervises the children, the classroom, and all activities.
- Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
- Maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
- Maintains program site and equipment.
- Maintains required program records.
- Attends and participates in program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
- Abides by all licensing regulations.
- All other duties assigned by the Childcare Director.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Meets educational and experience qualifications established by the Office of Child and Family Services.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- Previous experience with diverse populations.
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
Licenses or Certifications
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications
- Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week
