Horne Heating & Air Conditioning
Charlotte, NC Full Time
POSTED ON 4/5/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/4/2026

Job Title: HVAC Field Trainer (Service Technician Trainer)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM | Limited After-Hours Responsibility
Compensation: $26-$28/hour base performance incentives | Expected annual earnings $55,000-$110,000

Step out of the truck and into leadership. This role is designed for a high-performing HVAC technician who is ready to develop others, lead from the field, and build long-term impact within a growing service team. You'll work a consistent weekday schedule with structured training rotations, leadership development, and real earning potential tied to your performance and the success of the technicians you train.

As an HVAC Field Trainer, you will support the Horne Tech Academy by working directly with entry-level technicians through ride-alongs, call reviews, and hands-on coaching in both field and classroom settings. This role focuses on developing technicians into confident, independent, revenue-producing professionals while maintaining production standards and service quality. You will be responsible for reinforcing processes, improving technical and communication skills, tracking progress, and holding trainees accountable to expectations.

This is a leadership role that still stays connected to the field. You'll balance hands-on production with training responsibilities, helping shape the next generation of technicians while continuing to contribute to service performance. Success in this role comes from your ability to teach, coach, and lead by example while maintaining consistency, structure, and accountability.

We are looking for a proven HVAC technician who is ready to take the next step into leadership. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, communicates clearly, and enjoys mentoring others. Experience training or coaching technicians is preferred, along with the ability to stay organized, track performance, and lead without constant oversight. This role is best suited for someone who thrives in a structured, performance-driven environment and wants a long-term career in leadership and development.

Why Work With Us:

  • Strong team culture focused on accountability, development, and long-term success
  • Leadership that invests in people, not just production numbers
  • Direct impact on the growth and quality of the service team
  • Clear path into higher-level leadership roles
  • Earning potential tied to both personal performance and trainee success

What We Offer:

  • Competitive pay with performance-based earning potential
  • Trainer incentives and additional earning opportunities
  • Year-round work stability
  • 2 weeks accrued PTO in your first year
  • 5 paid holidays plus your birthday
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and supplemental insurance
  • 401(k) with 3% full match and partial match on 4-5%
  • Ongoing training and leadership development
  • Quarterly performance incentives
  • Company events and team-building activities

What You'll Bring:

  • Strong HVAC service experience with the ability to train and coach others
  • Experience mentoring, leading ride-alongs, or supporting technician development preferred
  • Confidence in communication, evaluation, and feedback delivery
  • Ability to balance field production with training responsibilities
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to track progress and performance
  • Commitment to professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement

Required Certifications:

  • EPA 608 Type II or Universal Certification
  • Completion of IAQ and SBE training within required timeframes

If you're ready to move beyond individual production and step into a role where you develop people, strengthen teams, and build long-term impact, apply today.
