Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activity Person to support residents in our Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will possess a genuine interest in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with diverse needs, including individuals with disabilities. This role involves planning and facilitating engaging recreational activities that promote socialization, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. The Activity Person will work closely with staff to create a warm, inclusive environment that fosters independence and joy for all residents.
Duties
- Develop and implement a variety of engaging activity programs tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, including recreational therapy and social activities.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensuring comfort and dignity during participation.
- Facilitate group events, one-on-one interactions, and community outings that promote socialization and cognitive engagement.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation, preferences, and progress related to activity engagement.
- Support residents in managing aging issues through counseling or guidance as appropriate, fostering a positive environment.
- Collaborate with team members to create a safe, inclusive space that respects each resident’s unique needs and abilities.
- Assist in organizing special events or celebrations that enhance community spirit within the facility.
Qualifications
- Experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or working with Developmetally Disabled adults .
- Prior experience in long-term care facilities or home & community care environments is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents of varying cognitive levels and disabilities.
- Ability to assist residents with ADLs while maintaining patience and empathy.
- Proven ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting to changing priorities.
