Our Mission
Horizons for Homeless Children is a Boston-based non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of young children experiencing homelessness in Massachusetts. We help their families succeed by providing high-quality early education, opportunities for play, and comprehensive family support services. Our advocacy efforts extend our impact and advance our vision of ending homelessness among families with young children.
Responsibilities
As a Support Staff-Lunch support with Horizons, you will be an integral part of our shared mission of helping children and their families. As you work with our children, you will collaborate with a talented, dedicated team of early childhood professionals. In your role, you will:

Maintain all food prep regulations according to ServeSafe

Maintain food prep spaces in accordance with ServeSafe cleaning requirements.

Distribute snacks and lunches to classrooms.

Maintain inventory of lunch and snack food

Washing and sanitizing of dishes

Communicate inventory needs to the Operations Manager.

Collaborate with a talented, dedicated team of Early Childhood Professionals like yourself.

Nurture and inspire children who need it most, knowing that you are impacting the lives of children and families each day at Horizons.
Workplace
You will work onsite at our state-of-the-art early learning center in Roxbury, MA. This is a part-time Monday through Friday 25 hour a week position. As a Support Teacher you will support daily meal operations between 10 AM-3 PM.
There is a large staff room with indoor and outdoor space for breaks as well as a designated quiet room. Our beautiful office space is located: Edgerley Family Horizons Center at 1785 Columbus Ave, Roxbury, MA.
This position requires the employee to comply with all applicable federal, state, local and company policy concerning immunizations, employment physical/screening, Background record check and health and safety training.

Qualifications:Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age

EEC Teacher Certification preferred

ServeSafe Preferred

Fluency in English (verbal and written) required, bilingual in Spanish, Haitian Creole, or other languages a plus

Cooperates successfully as a member of a team.

Must be able to work full year Monday-Friday 10 AM until 3 PM

Able to lift 50 lbs.

Professional development: must be willing to maintain current certification in First Aid/CPR
