School Personal Care Assistant – Hawthorne, NJ
School-Based | Elementary School | 2026–2027 School Year
Horizon Staffing Resources is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and patient School Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to support an elementary school student in Hawthorne, NJ during the 2026–2027 school year.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a meaningful difference by providing individualized personal, academic, and daily support in a school environment.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday
- 8:30 AM–3:00 PM
- School-based, elementary setting
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to an elementary school student throughout the school day
- Assist with the student's personal care and daily living needs as required
- Support the student with transitions between classrooms and school activities
- Assist with mobility and ensure the student can safely navigate the school environment
- Provide support during classroom activities, lunch, recess, and other daily routines
- Encourage participation and independence while maintaining the student's dignity and privacy
- Monitor student safety and well-being throughout the school day
- Assist with behavioral, social, and emotional support as needed
- Follow directions and individualized support plans provided by teachers and school staff
- Communicate effectively with the classroom teacher and school team regarding student needs
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Previous experience working with children or students with special needs preferred
- Experience providing personal care, direct support, or assistance with daily living activities is a plus
- Patient, compassionate, dependable, and attentive to student needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism and student confidentiality
- Must have or be willing to obtain NJ Board of Education fingerprinting
