Donation Attendant

Job Summary: 

The Donation Attendant will be responsible for acceptance of qualified donations at the designated store donation area. Will be responsible for providing a positive donor experience through great customer service, handling donations with care, and educating the public on our mission.

Essential Functions:

• Provide donors with exceptional customer service including but not limited to, greeting within 10 seconds of arriving, evaluating donations, politely declining items on our do not accept list (manager approval required for items being declined when not on our do not accept list), assisting donors and handling donations with care, and maintaining an organized and clean donation area.

• Accurately track all donations according to established standards.

• Encourage donors to complete feedback surveys as required.

• Sort donations into textile or hard goods categories according to guidelines; only disposing of obvious trash.

• Maintain efficient product flow in line with company policies and procedures.

• Serve as a Goodwill Ambassador by consistently demonstrating HGI values and striving to provide excellent service in all interactions.

• Assist with maintaining store and donation area cleanliness by picking up trash, sweeping, mopping, dusting, emptying trash cans, and ensuring hangers and racks are orderly.

• Assist production associates with material handling needs.

• Follow all required safety and security procedures including the use of protective equipment.

• Maintain compliance with all company policy and procedures as well as store policies to include but not limited to: opening and closing tasks and accurate, timely completion of required paperwork.

• Participate in training, including cross training for other positions in store.

• Perform all other duties as assigned.

   

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, not required.

• Reliable transportation.

• Must successfully pass criminal background screening.

• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to fifty (50) lbs., with or without assistance.
