Child Care Center Director

Position Summary 

Horizon Education Centers is seeking an experienced, self-starter, results-driven Center Director to lead our child care center to full enrollment. This leadership role oversees a multi-program center and requires a strong focus on enrollment growth, staff leadership, and compliance excellence. For over 46 years, Horizon has been at the forefront of providing high-quality care and education, significantly shaping the lives of children. Horizon offers programs for children 6 weeks to 14 years of age. This enduring legacy, established in memory of our founder Mary M. Smith, continues to inspire and guide our commitment to excellence. We currently have 14 centers and are expanding, which will require bringing on a new center director to join the team in Lorain County. Exact location to be determined. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Provide overall leadership and daily management of the center 

• Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing staff 

• Drive enrollment growth and retention 

• Ensure compliance with Ohio licensing regulations 

• Maintain Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) Gold rating standards 

• Avoid serious and moderate licensing risks 

• Foster relationships with families and community 

• Oversee programming from infant through school-age 

Qualifications 

3–5 years of Center Director experience in a childcare center required. Minimum Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent. Proven success in enrollment growth, staff leadership, and compliance. Strong child care leadership success will be weighted over education. 

Compensation & Benefits 

Base Salary: $60,000 – $65,000 (standard/medium size center) 

Bonus Opportunity: Up to $15,000 annually
