We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Analytical Chemistry Associate to join our growing laboratory team in Columbia, MO. This is a full-time, on-site position (40 hours/week) focused on chromatographic analysis and instrumental method execution in a regulated laboratory environment. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience operating HPLC and LC/MS instrumentation and thrives in a structured, compliance-driven setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot HPLC and LC/MS instrumentation for routine analytical testing
- Execute analytical methods for purity, identity, and quantitation of small molecules and biologics
- Perform UV/Vis spectrophotometric analyses as part of routine sample characterization
- Generate and review analytical data with attention to accuracy, traceability, and regulatory compliance
- Author and execute test records, logbooks, and batch records in accordance with cGMP standards
- Maintain instrument qualification records, calibration logs, and preventive maintenance schedules
- Participate in method validation and transfer activities as needed
- Support wet lab activities including sample preparation, standard preparation, and reagent management
- Assist with microbiological and bioanalytical testing as assigned (endotoxin, sterility, microbial enumeration)
- Communicate results clearly in written reports and during team meetings
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related field
- Minimum 1-2 years of direct, hands-on experience operating HPLC instrumentation
- Demonstrated experience with LC/MS (single quadrupole or equivalent) in an analytical setting
- Proficiency in data acquisition and processing software (e.g., Agilent ChemStation, OpenLAB, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of analytical principles including chromatographic separation, UV detection, and mass spectrometry fundamentals
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline
- Experience working in a cGMP-regulated laboratory environment (pharmaceutical, biotech, or contract lab)
- Hands-on experience with UV/Vis spectrophotometry
- Experience with lyophilization (freeze-drying) processes and/or lyophilized product characterization
- Familiarity with wet lab techniques, including:
- Endotoxin testing (LAL/BET methods per USP <85>)
- Sterility testing (USP <71> or equivalent)
- Microbiology experiments including microbial enumeration (TAMC/TYMC, USP <61>)
- Familiarity with USP, Ph. Eur., or ICH guidelines
- Experience writing or executing SOPs, test methods, or validation protocols

Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience. Based on current market data for analytical chemistry roles in the Columbia, MO area:
- Bachelor's level / Entry to mid-level: $52,000 - $68,000/year
- Master's level or significant cGMP experience: $68,000 - $85,000/year
Final compensation will reflect education, years of relevant experience, and instrument proficiency.
