Role Summary:

The Branch Manager coaches and manages staff to promote Horicon Bank as a full-service bank; demonstrates sales leadership and models efficient, professional, and accurate service. The Branch Manager is the primary contact for Horicon Bank's most valued deposit customers, establishes and retains banking relationships; oversees the operation and maintenance of location. This role is responsible for managing frontline staff, coordinating schedules and ongoing staff training.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enthusiastically support the Bank sales function by providing exceptional service to internal and external customers of the Bank.
  • Manage, evaluate, and recognize the performance of their direct reports and ensure the Onboarding Policy is followed for new employees by providing continuous feedback.
  • Monitor product sales and referrals, to measure branch performance and success. Coach and develop frontline staff's sales skills.
  • Communicate policies and procedures to keep employees informed of changes and developments with new services, marketing efforts, etc. Hold regular staff meetings.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of bank products and services, as well as those offered by our competitors.
  • Develop a familiarity of highly valued customers through personal contact and internal reports.
  • Anticipate branch needs and manage staff schedules and time off requests to meet business needs and ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Open and maintain deposit accounts, business accounts, and other banking services, process transactions timely and accurately. Follow depository compliance, Truth in Savings, and provide account disclosures.
  • Ensure security and internal control procedures and policies are strictly followed. Maintain all audit requirements. Notify compliance of any suspicious activities or questionable transactions.
  • Represent and promote the bank at sponsored events in the community to generate referrals through community, civic and volunteer efforts.
  • Oversee facility maintenance to ensure a professional and clean appearance of bank facility and grounds.
  • Process donation requests, reference Giving Mission guidelines and provide all necessary documentation to internal departments for completion.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist employees with questions and concerns relating to internal Bank operations.
  • Update knowledge and develop professionally on a continuing basis. Participate in internal and external training and development opportunities as required.
  • Perform other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.
  • Fully complies with all applicable enterprise policies and procedures. Acts in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations as outlined in training materials, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act. Responsible for reporting suspicious activity to the AML/CFT team.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma and a minimum of five years previous banking and/or five years of management experience.
  • Previous experience with new account opening desired.
  • Expert knowledge of bank products and services, including the rules, regulations, polices, and procedures. Detailed understanding of core systems, Office Suite, and programs used within the frontline function.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work, handle multiple tasks concurrently; exercise good judgment in all areas of responsibility; and work effectively under pressure and deadlines.
  • Strong leadership qualities with ability to evaluate performance, train, and provide coaching on an ongoing basis. Ability to communicate expectations effectively and generate engagement and support.
  • Ability to resolve conflict and deescalate difficult situations in a tactful and courteous manner.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with ability to problem solve and effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with customers, employees, and prospects.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a pleasant office environment with minimal chance for personal injury. Frequent mental concentration is necessary for listening and responding to various situations. Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds unassisted. Some twisting, bending, and turning is required. Work hours are generally during normal business hours, including some weekend and evening hours, and average 40 hours a week. Some out-of-town travel may be required.
