POSITION SUMMARY:

The Foreman manages and oversees assigned individuals on a residential or commercial jobsite to ensure the project is completed according to specifications; ensures safety and quality while staying on budget; ensures customer satisfaction; works with the crew to complete the job. The Foreman is an active member of the crew to ensure timely work completion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures jobs are ready for production by:
  • Reviewing assigned packets prior to production via our CRM to ensure a clearly defined scope of work and verified accuracy with Superintendents.
  • Coordinating schedules with Production Coordinators
  • Verifying material availability with Distribution to ensure their crew has the necessary materials for the job.
  • Assists in mobilizing the crew out the door with everything they need to perform the job, including materials, tools, equipment, etc
  • Ensure the customers, general contractors, and Office personnel are continuously aware of project logistics and changes to contracts and/or timelines.
  • Ensure growth, production targets, timelines, safety, and quality standards are met through performance management of assigned production individuals, including:
  • Setting clear expectations
  • Monitoring performance and safety
  • Providing specific feedback, coaching, and corrective action
  • Ensuring onsite training of Horch Roofing procedures, safe work practices, and installation techniques to produce consistent quality.
  • Ensures material inventory is maintained in “undamaged condition” by properly loading, unloading, storing, and securing materials upon departure or arrival at the Horch Roofing Yard.
  • Maintains Horch Roofing's reputation by:
  • Locating Horch Roofing Signs to increase visibility and recognition in the community.
  • Maintaining strong relations with customers and general contractors to reconcile problems or issues related to the contracted project, including post-project completion.
  • Ensuring the job site is in “as found” or “better” condition than upon departure.
  • Maintains accurate paperwork related to the project, including updated pricing, materials, extra time used, and all receipts related to the job; and ensures paperwork is processed to Office personnel within one business day.
  • Remains up to date with safety and roofing best practices by completing necessary training (i.e., OSHA or new work practices).

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION:

Experience and Skill Requirements: The following experience and skills are considered essential:

  • At least 3 years of work experience in roofing is required.
  • At least 6 months of Horch Roofing work experience is required
  • Supervision-Delegating tasks, overseeing the work, holding employees accountable for work performance on the job, etc.
  • Customer Service-Communicating with customers, striving to exceed their expectations.
  • Equipment Selection-Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Operation and Control-Controlling operations of equipment or systems; ability to multitask.
  • Preferred Equipment Operation- Certified to operate lift equipment
  • Coordination-Adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions.
  • Valid Driver's License required

Education Requirements: The following education requirements are considered essential:

  • Advanced knowledge of roofing applications and the following:
  • Building and Construction-General knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, building, and the roofing industry.
  • Mechanical-Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Engineering and Technology-Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services typically encountered in the roofing trade.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; drive or ride in a vehicle; use arms, hands, and fingers to lift and carry materials, use tools, etc.; climb, bend, and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, see, and hear. Heavy lifting/pushing of 85 pounds or more is regularly required.

Good physical condition is required to perform heavy physical labor. Any person hired into this position, due to inherent and other physical dangers of this job, may be required (and upon future request) to obtain a statement from a physician certifying that s/he is in good health and has the physical ability to handle this position.

Physical abilities needed in order to perform this position include the following:

  • Gross Body Equilibrium-The ability to keep or regain your body balance or stay upright when in an unstable position.
  • Static Strength-The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 85 lbs.
  • Extent Flexibility-The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Stamina-The ability to exert yourself physically over long periods of time without getting winded or out of breath.
  • Manual Dexterity-The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

The majority of the work is outdoors and can be in a wide variety of weather conditions - hot/humid, cold, windy, rainy, snowy, etc. Must not be afraid of heights.
