Position Summary

The Roofing Sales Estimator is responsible for generating new business, preparing accurate and competitive estimates, and closing contracts for roofing projects. This role is not only responsible for responding to inbound opportunities but is expected to primarily and proactively drive revenue growth through community presence, relationship-building, and consistent outbound lead generation efforts. This role is expected to consistently seek out and create opportunities rather than wait for them.

The Sales Estimator serves as a key connector between Sales and Production, ensuring all contracted work aligns with production capacity, material availability, and HORCH Roofing standards. Success in this role requires a high level of ownership, initiative, and accountability in building and maintaining a strong pipeline, rather than relying solely on company-generated leads.

This position is primarily remote, with a typical schedule of Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexibility based on business and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Generation & Customer Engagement

  • Promote HORCH Roofing within the community to generate new business opportunities
  • Identify prospective customers and schedule appointments to present products and services
  • Conduct professional product presentations tailored to customer needs
  • Build strong customer relationships through a positive and consistent experience from initial contact through project completion and follow-up

Estimating & Project Scoping

  • Gather detailed customer expectations through:
  • Roof measurements and square footage calculations
  • Photo documentation
  • Site condition assessments
  • Bird’s-eye drawings
  • Timeline discussions
  • Calculate labor and material costs using HORCH Roofing's approved methods, systems, and tools
  • Develop comprehensive proposals including:
  • Project timelines
  • Scope of work
  • Material requirements
  • Subcontractor and insurance considerations

Sales Execution & Contract Management

  • Partner with Production to confirm scheduling feasibility, crew availability, and material readiness
  • Effectively negotiate contracts, clarify expectations, and close sales
  • Collect customer deposits and support accounts receivable efforts, including follow-up on outstanding balances
  • Maintain accuracy and completeness in all contract documentation

Production Handoff & Collaboration

  • Create detailed production packets including:
  • Final signed contract
  • Material lists
  • All necessary job details for successful execution
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure a smooth transition from sale to production

Product Knowledge & Continuous Learning

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of:
  • HORCH Roofing products and warranties
  • Installation processes
  • Safety standards
  • Actively participate in training and continuous development opportunities
  • Demonstrate working knowledge and adherence to the HORCH Roofing Sales Handbook

Non-Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • May or may not be asked to physically access roofs
  • Participate in community engagement and company events

Qualifications

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of sales and customer service experience, preferably in the construction trades
  • Strong customer service orientation with a focus on exceeding expectations
  • Ability to build relationships with a wide variety of personalities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Mathematical proficiency (measurement, calculations, angles)
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy

Education & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of roofing procedures, applications, and materials required
  • Valid driver’s license required
